Everything for the perfect holiday on water

The first impression is awesome. The quiet splashing of the waves on the shores of the lake and the striking turquoise-coloured water of the lake seem to take a magic hold. You’ve arrived, in Bönigen and Iseltwald. The two villages are just a few minutes from Interlaken on the shores of Lake Brienz. Two mountain ranges with green meadows and forests, right up to impressive peaks, are reflected in the water. Adventures on the water, a high-speed ride on a jet boat, a leisurely cruise on the steamship or powerful strokes in a kayak, are waiting to be enjoyed. Nature lovers and water rats will be in paradise here. The central location is ideal for your excursions in the Jungfrau region and around the lake.

Your highlights in Bönigen-Iseltwald

Interplay of tradition and present

Traditions are respected and cultivated in the typical Bernese Oberland village of Bönigen. You will hear and see folklore sounds and traditional costumes at the concert on the quay directly beside the jetty on the lake. Go on your own voyage of discovery round the village and investigate the small alleys and wooden houses which were built from the 16th to the 18th century. The village museum and the guided village tour provide you with fascinating insights into the over-800-year history of Bönigen.

Back to the present, the water is a temptation you won't be able to resist: brave the lake on a jet boat, a fun adventure. An afternoon at the lido will make you forget about your everyday routine. You simply cannot get enough of the wonderful nature? Then go for a walk along the shores of the lake towards Iseltwald or walk up towards the Schynige Platte through magnificent forests.

Fishing village in the picturesque bay

Iseltwald is the only village on the left-hand shore of Lake Brienz. Nestled in a small bay, the fishing village begs you to stay and enjoy. Naturally, you will taste fresh fish here, sitting on a patio or in a panorama restaurant, always with a view of the lake and mountains. The promontory with the ornate Seeburg Castle and small “snail island” round off the romantic picture. This is where you will experience the true power of water: rowing, surfing, bathing – an attractive selection!

Iseltwald is also the perfect starting point for a hike to the impressive and refreshing Giessbach waterfall. Right next to the historical Grandhotel Giessbach, it thunders directly into Lake Brienz. After an enjoyable hike or a cruise on the steamship Lötschberg, you will really unwind at the lido.

Just a few minutes from the hustle and bustle of Interlaken, you will find your very own home away from home for that perfect holiday on the lake shore in Bönigen and Iseltwald.
