Die Wanderung entlang des Brienzerseeufers ist perfekt für warme Sommertage: wenig Höhenmeter, nicht allzu lang und zumeist schattig. Ein Highlight ist das 1875 / 76 gebaute Grandhotel Giessbach, einst die vornehmste Adresse im Berner Oberland.

A delightful lakeside path leads from Iseltwald to the historic Grandhotel Giessbach, which environmentalist Franz Weber (1927 – 2019) saved from mold, decay, and demolition, restoring it to new splendor and success. Above the hotel, the natural spectacle of the Giessbach Falls enchants as they cascade down many steps into Lake Brienz.

The hiking path from Iseltwald to Giessbach is rightly considered one of the most beautiful lakeside paths in Switzerland. Almost entirely laid out directly along the blue-green shimmering Lake Brienz, it leads through fairytale mountain forest with gnarled trunks, to secluded bathing spots and to a magnificent Art Nouveau hotel. Hard surface only in the settlement area at the beginning of the route.
