Easy hike from the southern slope of Belpberg almost to the gates of the town of Thun. Along the way, you enjoy a wonderful view of Lake Gerzensee, the Stockhorn chain, Niesen, and the Alps. Hard surface only in the area of the settlements.

Thanks to its location on the southern slope of Belpberg, Gerzensee is not only climatically favored but also offers an incomparable panoramic view. For this reason, the village was preferred by the Bernese patriciate as a location for their country estates from the 17th to the 19th century. An impressive building from that time is the New Castle, which was the residence of the von Graffenried family in the 18th century. Since the 1980s, it has served as a training center for the Swiss National Bank. Although it is not open to the public, those who pass by on the hiking trail coming from the Gerzensee/Bären bus stop get a good impression of the spacious grounds. Equally noble is the poplar avenue, which must then be passed along a gravel path. The route then branches off the main road heading south, initially running on a small asphalt road to the harbor and then continuing on a wide gravel path across arable and meadow land. On the right, you can see Lake Gerzensee lined with mighty trees, behind it the Stockhorn chain; ahead lie the Niesen and the snow-glittering peaks of the Bernese Alps. At the Schufle viewpoint, the pointed church tower of Kirchdorf comes into view. The church and the adjacent parsonage district are located on a hill sloping steeply to the south, so that even on the further route through the Limpach valley, a glance back is worthwhile. The brook, bordered by bushes and shrubs, flows through a wide agricultural valley where time seems to have stood still: Away from the haste and noise of modern civilization, there is a wealth of natural enjoyment here. Always following the Limpach, you quickly make your way along a wide gravel road. At the junction with the Amletbach, turn right towards the west, follow the brook to Änteried, and there choose the branch to Uetendorf. The first houses of the settlement belonging to the Thun agglomeration are already visible. Below the church, you reach the village center and the train station.
