Easy hike on the flank of the Männlichen. The route goes pleasantly up and down through forest and over mountain meadows along the "Öpfelchüechliweg". Hiking path without hard surface.

Join fruit farmer Hene on his exciting hike from Holenstein to Brandegg. Along the way, Hene shares interesting facts about apples and you can playfully test your dexterity.

A lot happens before an apple becomes an Öpfelchüechli. Experience an adventurous journey with unlucky Hene. First, he is stung by a bee while picking apples, and the steps of the ladder break. Then his Piaggio breaks down, and finally the wheelbarrow also has a malfunction. In the end, he delivers the apples on foot, which can then be processed into delicious Öpfelchüechli. Hene - our everyday hero!

Take the Grindelwald-Männlichen gondola up to the middle station Holenstein. The path partly follows narrow mountain trails, partly (unpaved) alpine and forest roads across meadows and pastures and through open mountain forest. At first, it gently descends down to Blattmad, from there goes pleasantly up and down to Vorsassi. Along the way, there are repeatedly magnificent views of the impressive Eiger north face, the Wetterhorn and Faulhorn chain. Then you have to ascend to Brandegg via the pleasantly shaded gorge of the Wärgistalbach. Thanks to the alternation between forest sections and open terrain, the route can also be enjoyed in high summer.
At the end of the mountain walk, a stop at the Brandegg restaurant is recommended. It has been known far beyond the region for many years because of its Öpfelchüechli (apple fritters). The fresh preparation of this nowadays rather rare speciality has earned the restaurant a legendary reputation especially in winter.
