Lake Thun is surrounded by several peaks over 2000 meters high, some of them rugged. The rounded landscape from Thun through Spiez to Greberegg forms a pleasant contrast. So off to a hike in this lovely landscape. Some sections are on hard surface.

Ferdinand Hodler is probably the best-known Swiss painter of the 19th century. The region also captivated him. Many of his works were created at Lake Thun and in the surrounding mountains.

The hike is not marked as a continuous route. Particular attention is required in the Faulensee forest to not deviate from the described tour. At the starting point of the hike, the bus stop Aeschiried, Schulhaus, follow the sign Hellbode. Initially flat, then descending, you reach Hellbode via pastures and forest. Turn left there and continue over Blase and Rüdelmoos to the Aeschi – Krattigen road. Here, turn into Stuelegg street, along the campsite you reach the signpost indicating Stulegg. Over pastures, the route continues on flat ground to Faulensee forest. At the signpost at the forest edge, turn left into the forest towards Allmend – Faulensee. After a short ascent, at the next signpost turn right and go down to a few meters from the forest edge. Here the path turns left, ascending you reach a hiking trail junction. Continuing towards Hondrich, the route leads to a forester’s house with a rest area. On the signpost, the intermediate destination Eigen/Altersheim and the final destination Faulensee can be read. After leaving the forest, continue to Faulensee, the destination of the hike. The bus takes hikers to Spiez station. Those who prefer a leisurely experience can round off the hike with a boat ride to Spiez, Thun or Interlaken.
