The network of paths "Heavenly Trails" forms connections in Central Switzerland around Lake Lucerne between monasteries and pilgrimage churches, over mountains and valleys, depending on the weather.

The route of this two-day stage connects the place of activity of Saint Nicholas of Flüe in Sachseln/Flüeli-Ranft in Obwalden with the monastery village Engelberg. The path leads from Flüeli along the Melchaa to Melchsee-Frutt and further to Engelberg. This section of the route can only be walked in the summer half-year and in safe weather conditions. The stage passes the pilgrimage site Melchtal with the neo-baroque pilgrimage church along the Four-Lakes Hike to the monastery village Engelberg.
