Introductory Course in Permaculture with Sarah Daum

Congress, Course
Learn the basics of permaculture: ethics, design principles, and practical methods for gardens, landscapes, and communities – with nature observation on the Schweibenalp.
Whether you want to create a self-sufficiency garden, start a permaculture farm, develop an urban community garden, or launch a local citizen initiative, permaculture can be applied in many ways. The idea behind it is simple: when we care for the Earth, it will care for us.

In this course you will get to know permaculture as a holistic philosophy of life. You will learn about the methods permaculture uses for design and explore their practical application. We will examine the ethical foundations, design principles and processes, and apply them through planning exercises while exploring many practical examples.

Together we will discover the foundations of designing gardens, landscapes, settlements and organizations in ways that support a sustainable future.

We will spend a lot of time outdoors on the grounds, observing the natural processes and cycles within the permaculture landscape of Schweibenalp and its surroundings, and sharpening our perception of nature. Through these observations, the language of nature becomes increasingly understandable and forms the basis for design.
