From Brienz station, you walk on the lakeside path along the entire Lake Brienz. Following the beach path, you come across the Brienz beach, which invites you for a refreshing swim. Passing Camping Aaregg, you cross the Aare Canal and turn right following the signpost. Soon after, you enter the forest. A small resting place by the lake invites you to linger. The path leads up to the A8 motorway. The Bottenbalmbrücke pedestrian bridge, opened in June 2023, was built directly onto the concrete substructure of the highway viaduct. The bridge offers, over a length of 140 meters, at treetop height, a breathtaking view over Lake Brienz. The next highlight is not long in coming. The hike continues to the Giessbach Falls and then to the elegant Grandhotel Giessbach (built in 1857). For tired hikers, there is the option here of taking the 1879-built Giessbach funicular to avoid the last steep descent to the boat station.
