In earlier writings, it is said that the herdsmen of the Diemtigtal and their neighbors from Simmental already knew a lot about the healing springs deep in the Diemtigtal. High up on the Grimmialp, about 2000 m above sea level, the spring emerges in wonderful clarity at the foot of an immense rock face from the rocky ground.
The effect of the water
For hundreds and far beyond the valley borders, these health springs have brought lasting healing of old ailments and new, fresh life. Often also where any other help failed. Summer after summer, in desperate cases also in winter, their waters were fetched with great difficulty in barrels, buckets, and bottles from the high alp. It became customary to add bright red stones to the drinking water, supposedly to preserve the healing power, but certainly only as proof that the tapping had taken place at the correct springs.

Directions
- The ascent starts at the Senggiweid car park, 400 m after the bus stop «Schwenden i.D., Grimmialp» and leads over Würzi. You hike on the mountain trail through the shady forest along the Grimmi stream until you reach the open plain on the Grimmi alp. Shortly after the alp, follow the signposts to the actual power spot Grimmiwasser with the red spring. Then you go back over alpine pastures and the Nidegg alp to the starting point.
If you want to avoid the descent, hike to the mountain station of the Grimmialp cable cars and take the chairlift back into the valley (observe operating times).
The circular hike is also possible in the opposite direction. The path is marked with green route signs «Mountain Trail Power Spot Grimmiwasser». Equipment

Directions & Parking facilities
- Getting there
Motorway A6 Bern direction Zweisimmen, turn left 1 km after the Simmenfluhtunnel towards Diemtigtal. Follow the Diemtigtal road valley-inwards for 19 km towards Schwenden, Grimmialp.
ParkingPaid parking is available directly at the valley station of the Grimmialp cable cars or at the starting point of the Grimmimutz trail (Senggiweid).
Public transportationBy train to Oey-Diemtigen. Then by post bus to the stop «Schwenden i.D., Grimmialp» (final stop).
