At a height of 38 meters, the Hostalde suspension bridge swings over the Engstlige mountain stream. It opens up a circular hike, during which you can stop at the "Hängebrügg-Beizli".

The bridge sways, the deep view is breathtaking, and you walk with cautious steps. But the fear is unfounded: the Hostalde suspension bridge is solidly built. It is suspended on two spiral cables with a diameter of 32 millimeters, the cables and their anchors on both valley sides guarantee a load capacity of 30 tons. Wire mesh and handrails allow safe crossing.

Once we got used to the sailor’s walkway, we were already on the other side of the valley. Here are the "Hängebrügg-Beizli" and the WÄfler family home. Previously, only a wooden footbridge led over the Engstlige mountain stream. The dilapidated bridge, part of their children’s school route, was no longer safe enough for Karin and Martin WÄfler at some point. The idea of a suspension bridge came about, and it was opened in autumn 2006.

Since then, many hikers have crossed the 153-meter-long bridge and enjoyed the airy feeling 38 meters above the valley floor. The suspension bridge is no longer just a school route but also opens up a beautiful hiking area. The circular hike on the sculpture trail through the Engstlige floodplain is popular.
